This kind of mentality keeps manufacturers profit margins high. It’s incredibly common for people to buy more car than they need for a one-off situation. It’s why vehicles like the high-margin F150 sells so well.
The people driving these things are leasing them in my experience. Which may be stupid by itself (yes, please, I’d like to buy the two most expensive years in which that car drops 40% in value!) but it presents the real question:
Land Rover must employ several full-time hypnotists to haunt the wealthy neighborhoods of North America. There is no better explanation for the perseverance of the brand because those cars suck, period, and there is no way for a person who knows one or more Land Rover owners to avoid hearing horror stories.
