The idea that they’re nicer to drive baffles me. Large SUVs and trucks drive/park like boats, and I hate dealing with them. I will never understand why anyone would want them, if they’re not doing work.

All it takes is getting stuck on a sweaty bus one or two times with an aggressively insane homeless person and you’ll remember why you own a car.

You mean, just give every resident a Ferrari?  I would be down for that. Free mustaches for every man too?

Orlove’d.

Only one of a few remaining who sell pick ups?” there are no fewer than there were in the past there’s the VW Amarok, Toyota Hilux, Nissan Navara, Renault alaskan, fiat fullback, mitsu l200 if you're quick and the recently discontinued mercedes pick up

First year car. Never buy a first year car. Otherwise I like how you think.

2001 Toyota Tundra Access Cab length = 217.5″

It’s a few inches shorter than a Toyota Sienna too.

Perfect City Car:

That price is enticing, and the marketing here is downright brilliant, but a front wheel drive pickup with a cvt and a 2000 pound towing capacity is not the stuff of jalop dreams.

It’s all great but I’m not sure how the hybrid part of it kills the “simple truck” concept. It’s simple in the sense that you get only basic options, but the drivetrain is not something akin to small pickups of the 90's that you can fix with duct tape and a piece of string.

There should almost be another term for this size truck. For people doing light DIY work, it will be just fine. Bags of mulch, occasional lumber, bikes, just things that you don’t want to dirty up the back of an SUV with. That is the perfect fit for this.

Yes! Nailed it!

I’d sell my Frontier for this.

Okay, now do that with any other truck and see where you end up. LOL

Do it Ford

I guess you won't be buying any new trucks then.

I hope Subaru is watching closely with the Maverick and Santa Cruz. Hopefully this gives the reason to bring back the Baja.

and they should

We need more small trucks!! With certain exceptions, these reasonably sized trucks will serve the need of the vast majority of people that say they ‘need’ a truck. And will absolutely be more truck for people that want a truck.
