I think that some of the full sized trucks that you see being dailied are bought because they need a family vehicle that tows a boat or camper. Yes, modern midsized trucks can tow a good assortment of these, but the width of a full sized pairs better with the width of a trailer or camper when going down the road and

I am so glad there are people like you out in the world. There are a lot of fantastic sport sedans in the world and it would be a shame to lose them. I love pickups and will always own one but always want options.

The modern Ford Ranger is built on the standardized specs of the global market pickup truck. (Europe, Australia, Asia, and Africa) The Toyota Hilux, Nissan Nivara, VW Amarock, Mercedes X Class are all roughly the same dimensions.

Compare it to the 1986 Toyota minivan and come back to me with your thoughts.
