I well understand that computers are a necessity in school. However, this kid is 7, apparently. I wouldn't let a 7 year old kid loose on the Internet without watching to make sure they don't see some of the junk that's out there.
I'm not saying a computer isn't a great tool that provides access to a wealth of information. Just that the kid doesn't NEED to use it, and that computer time should be supervised.
Not having read the article yet, there's presumably some way to reprogram them.
Or, you know, go ahead and password protect it. The kid doesn't need to use the computer anyway - especially unsupervised.
