Even if you just count the city of Los Angeles and not the county, the prices vary pretty greatly by area, because it's still a big city. You could have a job and home in "Los Angeles" and still have a 30+ mile commute. If that's not the case wherever you are, great for you, but that's not the reality for everyone.
