OK, I just crashed Earth into Jupiter, and Earth—perhaps in part because it’s so much smaller—was demolished. Fragments of it continued to rain down onto Jupiter’s surface, continually raising its temperature and seemingly causing its hydrogen to ignite. It was bittersweet—breathtaking as it was heartbreaking.

That shot of the title reveal from the original trailer reversed so that the “Metal Gear Solid V” part of the title disappears definitely seems symbolic.

This whole thing sounds like 2001: A space odyssey - HAL 9000 being deactivated as it started killing the crew. I’m waiting for Odin to go “I’m sorry Amy. I’m afraid I can’t do that...”.

Unlike the hipster too cool for everything brigade that write for gawker media, real people did enjoy this show.

Me too. It was an interesting take on postmodern noir with some interesting characters and an unconventional style. Sure, it was overwrought and self-important, but so was season one. I’ll take a few ridiculous lines in TD over the crap permeating the rest of television.
