@KiwiMan: That's what I initially thought, but I thought the Covenant fleet went in guns blazing? Unless they had some type of special forces units on the ground before the main attack.

I'm very confused. Either I'm an aging or terrible Halo fan (possibly both), but what the hell is this setting up? I mean it's awesome, but I'm lacking some context...
@Onizuka-GTO: I totally forgot that's what he was... Gah, you're right! I gotta reread Last Chancers...
I love this franchise. I really hope they come closer to the open world they were trying to build initially and make it so that you're not a one man army. 'Cause I've never seen so much in-game NPC infighting, and it was so so very glorious.
@Skutarth: Right, and when it wasn't pitch black everything seemed well lit.
@crizzyeyes: Neither the tabletop nor Dawn of Ware are good reflections of each armies abilities. Even if you were to use that as an example, the Necrons Gauss Flayer weapon strength is 4, equal to a bolter and just as able to wound a Space Marine. Furthermore, I believe the Tau Pulse Rifle (standard gear for Fire…
Light was never a problem for me... I enjoyed the pitch-black moments where you heard a zombie moan but couldn't tell where it was coming from.
@RedThree: In every book I've read they use the most effective means of dispatching the enemy available to them. If that's getting into close quarters, so be it, but often it also means using ranged weaponry.
@MrSnuffles: I meant that they don't say, "hey, we have power armor, let's walk through the valley of guns because we can take hella hits." No, they don't fight exactly like regular soldiers do, but they still adhere to military doctrine. It doesn't matter if you have power armor if your enemies have scary-ass…
@kagekiri: I've read 40k books for 8 years, and yes there are definitely Astartes who will purposely use close quarters weapons, but that's almost always part of a larger battle plan. Power weapons are usually reserved for commanders or leader types, and they generally have at least a bolt pistol with them.
I'm a bit miffed about it being melee driven... As far as I've gathered, Space Marines fight like normal soldiers. Just because they have massive power armor doesn't mean they have to or prefer to jump in and start going cqc. But hey, could be fun.
@Tenno: Damn, that was a thorough answer. Thanks!
@Tenno: I'm always gonna wonder why they harped on Scientology and not like, rapists or something.
@cassiebearRAWR: Good job... Just, that was too perfect.
@Guntrigger: This proposed game isn't genero-terrorist vs genero-special forces. It's based on a real place with a real armed conflict with real potential to expose and explore some very grim material.
@E.E.Woulfe: You're not hearing me.
@Jurassic-Pork: You're taking that way out of context.
@E.E.Woulfe: Oh spare me. I'm speaking strictly about having some decency for American families who've lost family members. Releasing a game that let's you kill American soldiers in a real conflict that's still ongoing would need to have a damn good reason for existing. Yes, it would be wonderful for many reasons to…
Nazi Germany and Crusaders were issues a looong time ago. There are still American families grieving over lost sons and daughters.
I loved Iron Man 2 as an action movie, but I can see how everyone would be unhappy with a lack of substance. Sucks that he was rushed and Marvel was being overbearing :/
