80's MPG optimized econoboxes are better, more "green" cars than modern "eco-conscious" hybrids.

A well engineered, well built heirloom car such as the 911 which has lived the track rat life is much more likely to be a car that is well sorted and maintained. We learned our vaporware car lesson with the Aptera (put down a deposit, only to have the car never make it to market). The Elio is no better off a situation, and will likely parallel the Aptera consumer vaporware experience as it evaporates into fantasy.

There has GOT to be a way for Japanese manufacturers to create kei cars that are also world cars. This is an area of absolute expertise for the Japanese, and they would do SO well in the US market if they could find a way to bring them here.
