Depression is different because the problem comes from within. This problem comes from another source that you cannot change no matter how hard you try. So why not try and deal with it differently? Like ignoring them. I don't think I have ever heard of a dev getting stalked and killed over a patch or update.…

I know what you mean but... I have children and that's how I know how important it is to put food on the table every morning day and night. If I had to choose between receiving threats which are mostly idle, and quitting my job, then I'll gladly receive those threats and just find a better way to deal with them.

It's just a suggestion and of course I'm trying to be encouraging, because you can't stop things like this, you can only find better ways to deal with it. I'm not saying I have all the answers, no one does. I am saying that you can change yourself to better deal with problems.

That's the thing, I have been threatened and made fun of and bullied. The way you handle it changes everything though. I have to admit, threats that are made in person can move me enough to get physical, I'm only human. Other kinds of threats and jokes, I brush off, because like I said they are only words.

Bullying is a whole different story. They always say, run off and go tell a teacher. That doesn't work, trust me. I was a victim of bullying when I first got to Jr HS. Very true. If stalking is involved, by all means, call the cops, arm yourself, what ever. I don't put much stock in words though. Actions mean much more than words.

The thing is, the victims can't change the aggressors, people are what they are. The victims can change themselves though and brush it off. Instead of letting it affect them to the point where their livelihoods are compromised. I wouldn't leave a job that puts food on the table because of a threat, but that's just me.
