The parts with the child/wife/husband really bummed me out. The parts with the squad saving the random civilian and getting ready for a firefight pumped me up. Bring it on!
to each their own, my friend. at least we have MGS to agree on :p
I said how, not that she was alive.
I semi-agree. She was there to analyze the Forerunner object. Her more or less defecting to the Covies? That was pointless. I'm hoping it goes somewhere, but who knows.
I always assumed that the destruction of Gravemind took care of the job, but I suppose there can still be strains left on other Installations. Idk I'm kinda sick of destructive species. We had the Flood, Reapers in Mass Effect, etc etc. It's kinda overdone in science fiction. Now having Forerunners that disagree that…
Okay, I was softballing it a bit :p Yeah, ONI is more or less evil. I hope they get to be antagonists in the main games to some capacity.
I did, but all that was added just to fix those canon issues. It's not like both stories were perfect companions. Reach the game was a major retcon to Reach the book. And that's fine, it's nothing new to fiction (especially science fiction). Off the top of my head, Halsey says she never knew about the S-III Program…
I enjoyed the parts dealing with the Spartans on Onyx more than Kilo Five in Glasslands, but they get more interesting in Thursday War and MD. In a lot of ways, the SPARTAN II program was a secret. Only ONI Section 3 and a few civilian contractors knew about the details. Spartans never talked to anyone outside of…
Yeah, and they manage to portray how ONI is just comprised of "spooks" doing Black Ops missions. I hope they add more.
I really wish they would though. The whole cause of conflict between humans and Forerunners were the Flood. No such impetus is needed between humans and Elites, nor human and humans (where a part of me hopes this goes).
Yep, they began to question the Prophets, some going as far as becoming "Heretics", like we saw in Halo 2. In fact, the Elite 343 Guilty Spark talked to in Terminal 11 of Halo Anniversary was the leader of the Heretics in Halo 2.
It's not a fake Didact though, he was a replacement. Didact is a title, or more specifically, a role. The Didact we face disagreed with the idea that Humans were meant to inherit the Mantle of Responsibility from the Forerunners, but that was because he had lost his sons during the Human-Forerunner War. Then he was…
Just bring Buck back as a Spartan. That's all I really want.
Elites were a lot like knights or samurai, but they had been receiving the short end of the stick for a while. Grunts were susceptible to anyone more powerful than them, so they were obedient soldiers, and Jackals were loyal so long as they got something out of it. Elites started to lose their loyalty to the Prophets…
I think that we'll get a lot more of Forerunner lore in the next few games. The Rings were only created for fighting the Flood, so I don't think there will be too much more of them. The Janus Key that the Librarian gave to Halsey contains the location of all Forerunner tech, so I'm sure there will be other things…
But the Flood are not that vital to where the story is going now. Humanity was meant to take the Mantle from the Forerunners, but the Didact didn't deem us worthy. I think the games are going to start explaining more about the Forerunners, and what taking on the Mantle really means. The Flood were an enemy that worked…
I love the Kilo-Five Trilogy. I really hope the games tie more into what's going on in the books (seeing Osman in Spartan Ops was amazing).
Yeah, the novels and comics are pretty damn important to know what's going on. How else would someone know how Halsey is alive, or what's going on with the Forerunners?
Well of course it's shitty. ONI are not the good guys. And it's pretty true to real life. How do you think the Iraq situation got so fucked? US gave the Mujahideen arms to fight off the Soviets, only to have them be turned on us. It happens.
