In the clips they showed I don't recall the camera ever spinning around 180 degrees and showing the path it traveled from the other side, either. I also don't recall anything like a 360 degree spin.

It tells me that the tech isn't perfect and they are only showing it doing what it can do well.

It does look rather sophisticated, yes an odd shape, but oddly elegant.

I suspect that it's not actually your heart rate, but it is detecting the electrical activity of the heart used to generate your heat beat, something like a mini ECG. It could have interesting applications outside of user access if this is the case.
