So is this going to be just more Dark Souls, with more of the same old gameplay, and the same old fighting unique giant monsters, and the same old difficulty level, with just a few pieces of different equipment, and the only real difference being the change in fantasy settings?

Because i would be totally okay with that!

Aside from sexism issues, it's just so utterly and completely boring to me. Another muscular white dude shooting things or, if it's really out there, stabbing things. Who cares.

In my case, it wasn't the game that offended me, I looked at it and went "Another dude? *sigh*" (I also went "Not Egypt again? *sigh*), it was the excuse given. When you consider a woman a "feature" as the first guy interviewed said, it says a lot about your way of thinking.

To be honest, I don't think it's even this game specifically. AC is just becoming a flashpoint and lightning rod for these kinds of gaming issues right now because of their "multicultural team" motto and frankly rather lame excuses. In the big picture of things, not having female character models in a weird

Yeah the "free" part is the only thing that would've stopped another firestorm lol though the clickbait headlines that would've been created would've been fun to see.

This is how I feel about it. I don't play as females at all as I am one all damn day so its often boring to me. I also don't agree with most people on the demand for them regardless of artistic intentions.

There's always DLC though. I'm sure people would have reacted better if they'd said 'look, we ran out of time to make a decent female model in the base game, but we can do it as DLC'. It wouldn't be the first time that DLC was used to put back content that was cut because of time constraints.

Who really knows, at this point we'd just be guessing as to why it would demand more resources. I don't think they intentionally did either because of the female multiplayer characters, Liberation with its female lead, not to mention the amount of female assassin's in brotherhood/revelations/black flag.

The more people voice their interest in having a female character, the more likely it will occur. I say press ubisoft for a more direct answer, and hope that a female lead is in the works, or at least as a part of the inevitable DLC that will release after the main tittle.

save them time and money they could devote to making the game better,

You know, I might believe that if it were any other game besides Assassin's Creed, but these games are stuffed to the gills with pointless timewasting side missions, half of which no body even likes to play. The Assassins themselves are over powered to the point of insanity, with a ton of different gadgets and Weapons

There's a big difference between an established character with some sort of development and characterization and an avatar for a multiplayer setting. I never mind playing male characters as long as, again, the character has character. Wanting options when playing multiplayer though is never a bad thing. "Controversy"

I see no problem in pressing them for clarification and, more so, I see nothing wrong with asking and pressuring them to be more inclusive with female characters.

I'm still going on about FarCry 3's weird white guy-kills-foreigners thing.

Nowadays, the "too much work" argument no longer flies. It should be considered "necessary work" - simply the cost of doing business. We don't see games cutting walking and running animations as separate things due to "too much work". We don't see them making every object in the world static and non-interactive

Next-gen crouch physics.
