I remember starting up the game in my measly tattered clothes and sitting down to the first bonfire and seeing all these ghostly apparitions of what seemed like fearsome legendary warriors who had been to hell and back, only to realize that one day my character would be just as outlandish and fearsome. Yeah, lack of

NO BUT SEE IF YOU TAKE THE CUSTOMIZATION FROM ARMORED CORE AND THEN PUT IN THE COLORS OF OBLIVION AND THEN THE PLATFORMING OF SUPER MARIO AND THE COMBOS FROM STREET FIGHTER 2 TURBO AND THE SHOOTING FROM SPACE INVADERS AND THEN TWEAK THE UNDEAD SYSTEM TO BE MORE LIKE THE GHOSTS FROM PAC MAN THEN CHANGE THE ESTUS FLASKS

All of those ARE shots of Gameplay. The game was extremely colorful. What the hell are you talking about?

Regardless of whatever this ends up being called, it's obviously another souls game.

It looks fucking awesome, and might very well be the first thing to convince me to go next gen.

Personally, I loved Dark Souls 2. The characters are much less floaty than Dark Souls and definitely do not hit you through walls. There is a sense of weight to character movement and control that is definitely an improvement over Dark Souls. The lock on system also works much better although it continues to be shitty

I played the original Dark Souls after playing Dark Souls II and found it much easier. Face it, the core mechanics are basically the same or very similar, so once you've figured one out, the other is easier.

Also, objectively speaking:
- In Dark Souls you start with 5 to 10 estus flask uses, while in Dark Souls 2 you

I'm looking at the list of licensed music for the game and it includes Howlin Wolf, Iggy and the Stooges, Vampire Weekend, Wu Tang Clan, Public Enemy and Curtis Mayfield.
I don't know about some of the other stuff in there, but that's definitely not my definition of "bad".

That first trailer for GTAV was really one of the best trailers.

I hate Assassin's Creed and I loved Far Cry 3. There were definitely a lot of ideas incorporated from Ass Creed into Far Cry 3, but saying is "exactly the same game" is beyond hyperbole. They don't play the same at all and in fact are completely different genres.

The boards at Kotaku ARE extremely juvenile. If you're expecting mature, intelligent debate, I doubt you will be able to find it on a consistent basis.

That said, this fake "outrage" over things is getting a bit tired. Who has this cover truly offended? Honestly speaking, who was genuinely offended by this cover?

Once I'm done with this one, I'm going right back to Dark Souls 1, then maybe Demon's Souls. I'm going to need a gaming break first though, I think this game is destroying my life.

By "Souls hump" I mean the difficulty a newcomer experiences playing his first "Souls" game (be that Demon's Souls, Dark Souls 1 or 2). In my case, Dark Souls 2 was the first game in the series that I played, so I didn't really understand shit about how anything worked until I had sunk a good numbers of hours into the

This is absolutely gorgeous but I suspect this never made it far into the game as all of these images are exclusively from the early section of the game (where I spent most of my time in my first 2 or 3 attempts at understanding this game until I eventually got over the "Souls" hump).

It's a shame. Shrine of Amana,

Halo 1 is one of my favorite games of all time. 2 was quite a step down, but I still have fond memories of it. For me, the others never really managed to recapture the magic.
ODST looks beautiful in those "open ended" levels, and the music is great, but frankly it just lacked momentum and was a bit boring.

Kirk posted a trailer that shows gameplay. I posted a music video from the band that also worked on Botanicula's soundtrack, but which has absolutely nothing to do with the game.

STARE INTO MY DEAD, COLD FISH EYES. WATCH ME WALK AROUND LIKE A WHORED OUT AUTOMATON. SO BAD ASS.

It hast the coolest monsters of the three, in my opinion, but a very weak and generic opening act.

The games are similar but independent. You won't miss anything plot-wise (there are tiny references to each other among the three games, but you won't miss anything if you play just one of the three or all three in a different order).
If anything, I would suggest you start with Dark Souls 2, then if you enjoy it, go
