I know in some ways it is kind of unfair, but I fully agree with it being mandatory. A lot of people don’t sign them because it isn’t romantic or “he/she/I would definitely be fair in the case of a divorce” and then regret it later.

We’re in complete agreement on that one. I don't know firsthand, but I have plenty of secondhand experience with maternity leave, and I think the trade off for not being on maternity leave is getting to not be on maternity leave. :)
