I totally agree with you that there’s an aspect of the argument that veers into misogyny and attempts to create the narrative that every guy who expresses interest “deserves a chance”.

In my experience - the more exacting, super long, super “perfectionist” a person’s “list” is - the more they don’t get how authentic life rolls. (Ie: buying way too much into the entertainment/marketing tropes they hypnotize the sheeple with)

That’s one of the problems with online dating - we think we know what we want, but i don’t think attraction works that way - it’s something much more nuanced. Online is more like...what people think they deserve.

As I recall, the original marathon ended with the guy who made the run keeling over dead as soon as he delivered his message, which always seemed like a good reason not to put yourself through that sort of thing to me.
