Central NM, we have a story almost yearly about them stalking pets or groups with small kids. We also have a lot of instances of mountain lions staking out back yards with pets that get let out in the more remote areas. Our game wardens have to trap and relocate a few each year.

They will stalk people if they have a small pet or a small kid the cats think they can take out. Happens pretty regularly out here.
