Yeah, but the frankly juvenile insults about “finally grows spine”, “cowered and bent to Trump”, etc. could be toned down a lot, maybe to something resembling a professional level?
Maybe try telling the truth instead of promoting your own narrative.
Wow. I remember when I used to go to Jalopnik to escape FB politics and just read about cars...
Regular person here.
The 997 is likely going to keep dropping for another year or two and then will start to level off and rebound. I see these being very desirable in the future. Good time to buy, but the ones with a proper gearbox are still commanding a serious premium. Every one I run across that results in a reaction of “that’s not…
Current VWs have been hugely more reliable the the Ford STs.
Tossable, decently quick, decent interior space, good mileage, what exactly makes it terrible?
Agreed, this is the perfect suggestion, and while the gag about the Miata is entertaining, in truth, GTI is always the answer.
A MKVII GTI can be had at or near 20k, the MQB platform has brought a lot to these cars. Will give Brian plenty more utility and practicality while still maintaining his Jalop-cred. I am absolutely in love with my 2016 Golf R and I’m sure the GTI delivers just as great an experience.

I love the 911R, but this color combo just does not work for me. It’s like wearing brown shoes with a black belt- total fashion no-no.
Neutral: Skoda In America?
I was able to drive a MKV GTI and it was quite an experience. Going from a NA motor to a turbo was a completely different feel. It had me looking for one for a couple of weeks.
You say bland, I say refined and classic. VW’s are relatively timeless - 10-15 year old Mk4's still look just as great as they did when they came out. The same can’t be said about some of these new “dynamically-styled” design languages...
Looks blue to me.
