This and other upcoming rivals are 100% going to take a big bite out of Tesla’s market share. Don’t kid yourself and think otherwise. As all the brands that offer build quality and a dealer support network leagues beyond Tesla begin to bring these vehicles to market, Tesla’s novelty won’t be a large factor any more.

I work for Audi on the dealer level, and the estimates all along were that this was going to come in in the low 200-mile range. So this is no surprise. Now should it be an obstacle for anyone who was seriously considering one of these in the first place. The number of EV buyers driving their autos the max range in one

I live in STL, and most of those are just bullshit.

Honestly, the diff is the ONE big thing the STI has going for it. Everything else on the WRX can be easily be upgraded to be on par with, or better than, the STI. The WRX has the better engine with more tuning potential.

Don’t blame you. Up to about 2008 or so (depending on model), they made some fantastic cars. Legacy GT Spec B, Outback and Forester 2.5 XT’s, WRX Wagons, STI’s that were beyond class-competitive.

Well, I’ve been in the car business for 13 years, and the last 3 of those were spent at a dealer does specializes in high-end brands. One of our best clients maintains a collection of 25-30 cars at any given time and stores them all in a secure hangar at a local municipal airport about 20 miles away. We would

Well, the Golf R trounces all over the STI, and even it’s little brother the WRX is a much better value.

Cute. I’ve sold cars that you probably couldn’t touch with your annual gross income. And driven ones that probably cost more than your house.

No? How about being in the car industry for 13 yrs? What makes YOU so informed on the matter by contrast?

Nobody is doing their own maintenance anymore any way. We here @ Jalopnik are not the norm. Standard oil changes for a Camry these days is $75-80. For a luxury sedan, considerably more.

The problem is you are ignoring several things-

Yeah, 15 yrs ago, they were flipping awesome. Problem is, the car market and industry have progressed by lightyears, and a new base STI is pretty much the same car as it was back in 2004.

Disagree. They are heavy, slow, lumbering, gutless boats that are every bit as bad as the crossovers everyone loves to hate on. There’s no reason to buy an Outback over say, a Tiguan or CR-V.

Not an expert, no. But with merit and experience to back up my opinion.

People know where electricity comes from, don’t kid yourself. They’re still buying EV’s because they like innovating tech, or in hopes that their business will help stimulate improvement in how our energy is produced. As EV/PIHV sales continue to grow and begin to overtake ICE cars, electricity production will get

Been saying this for ages.

No. We haven’t. Not even close. And more importantly, you’re glossing over the fact that what people ‘want’ doesn’t dictate the market by itself.

Then you clearly don’t understand the car market or the industry.

What’s so confusing?

Gawd, I absolutely LOVE this car! I remember when it graced the pages of Super Street as a high schooler. I thought this car started off as more of a time attack car, or just a street tuner? I believe at one point early on it was a non-iridescent (Midnight I) purple, with white TE37's. I think it looked even better
