Yeah, hate to break it to you, but this is pretty common knowledge and has preached by people for some time now.

CP.

You can keep your overwrought trendy styling, tinny build quality, and lackluster performance.

So true, my friend. There are good things and bad things about every place. Mexico just happens to have much better weather, cuisine, and national liquor than many others, to name but a few. Salud, amigo.

That was directed at another poster. My bad.

No, unfortunately, no manual. But the VR6 model has the DSG and you can do a TCU tune. Not the same I know, but still better than the typical slushbox.

I love seeing not only the Jettas, but all the myriad of other VW’s when I go to Mexico. Many of them we don’t get here in the States. I think you guys got the Mk4 Jetta GLI as the ‘Classic’ up until like 2011 or 2012, I think.

That’s not what VW does. The GTI, just like a 911, is incrementally evolved from one generation to the next. They’re not trying to change the mold because the car is already so good. The Mk5 GTI was way ahead of it’s time. And the current Mk7 creams the competition from an all-around standpoint.

It’s you.

Well, almost nothing in the segment has a manual. And the Passat has better power and acceleration than most. So by your own criteria, it’s obviously not terrible.

Lol, have you driven one?? It is nowhere near garbage. It won MT’s Car of the Year in 2012. And even near the end of it’s life cycle, it’s still competitive. It offers great power, the handling and steering are still crisp, it’s got tons of room, and it’s an effortless highway cruiser.

What I don’t understand is in what way the Owner’s Manual helps all those who are going to put a lift, awful 20's, and ginormous tires on to tackle their local Starbucks and shopping centers.

It’s a daily for you.

Yes, all that is addressed in 2) of my post.

So you fall into category 2. What is there to dispute?

The right car, the right situation...it can totally be done. I’d do a S5 Cab or 911 4S Cab no problem.

I think this topic is a little overblown.

Looks like this joyride was over...........in a split second.

It’s called incentives. Most other small cars have them. Lots of them. You can get 5k off a Jetta no problem.

Why WOULDN’T you compare real transaction prices??
