Thanks!
Thanks!
Luckily I happen to live pretty darn next door to a small airport with a lovely international group of jump instructors. It's in South Florida so at least it's probably a bit closer to you than South Africa!
I'm sorry for your day but your description of it made mine! Here's hoping tomorrow is better (and that the next fireman you encounter will at least be hot ;)
I've been stuffing the dirty laundry in the laundry room all week and ignoring the giant Laundry Monster waiting to gobble me up the moment I walk in. The dishes are piling up and I think one of the munchkins might have gotten lost in the bathroom.
Happy Birthday! I celebrated my 25th by jumping out of a plane whilst strapped to a rather hunking and very lovely South African. Ahhh the memories ;)
Not a cat but my pups all do it. And then they want to curl up with me and lick my face. Um...I love ya guys but not that much!
As a woman in a virtually all male career I long ago got over the worry that asserting myself would label me as a bitch. I'm not going to shrink into a wall flower simply to fit into some preset notion of how these men think women should be. I'm going to do my job and if that means stepping on your toes and stepping…
Thank you! I've said it upthread but it bears repeating; it's not just the children who are being put at a disadvantage. It's the teachers as well as the other students in the class so if you have any suggestions on changes you think could be made feel free to message me. I'm going to be working on this on a national…
I agree completely with this assessment. Yet one only has to look at the statistics of *how* people learn; only 25% can be taught by sitting at a desk and having someone speak to them. In effect that means that most public schools are thusly only teaching to a quarter of their students.
Hearted for the encouragement and for your obvious strength and patience!
Thank you so much for your encouragement! Everyone's made me feel so much better tonight :)
Thankfully the ADA does cover it and in fact they were found to be in violation in my son's case and have to jump through some hoops to correct the issues.
This is such a sticky issue and I applaud you for voicing your feelings. For my son he does extremely well in a gen-ed class at the private school and when his vocal tics become a distraction he simply removes himself to let them out and comes back in and focuses.
Also sending you a PM!
Hearted for making me feel stronger!
I sent you a PM. ;)
Your post made me tear up. It was such a terrible time when I think back on it. There's things I would like to say, to explain further but it's hard to do so on a blog comment.
If you don't mind me asking, what part of the world are you in? I'm just curious as to how it's done in other areas.
He was diagnosed by a neurologist with Tourette Syndrome and OCD. He was subsequently diagnosed by a neuro-psychiatrist with severe sensory dysfunction, auditory dysfunction, dysgraphia, and ADHD. None of which they would accept as a reason for an IEP or a 504.
So I know that you are misunderstanding a little of bit of the law.
