Which is interesting given that the DC fire department is now being sued by a few pregnant firefighters who were basically given unpaid leave as well.

I'm a mother of five, four that I gave birth to and one who came with my husband which I love just as much. I'm also a person who has always had the desire to get a college degree and never had the ability.
Totally agreed.
Only problem I have with that is that the state was able to offer verifiable proof that her mother was working the day and time of the searches and that her supposed searches for Chlorophyll (which she stated led her to Chloroform) weren't found.
I already explained in the comment but I'll be glad to do it again.
No, I didn't. Because I didn't come here to get into a catfight over this, let me rephrase. You stated there was no motive. I am stating there absolutely is. Period. And while I agree with you that the case wasn't well handled and that her father probably did molest her - that does not change the facts.
I'm going to chime in here and say this - yes, there are roles society assigns to us and things we are all supposed to do or risk looking bad in it's eyes. At least for me, however, it's not about gender roles and unfair expectations. It's about human compassion and empathy and the way you act when your own offspring…
Those are facts. I'm unaware that there's a different way to view them. She did go out clubbing. She did have sex with random men. She did pee in parking lots. She did lie.
Normally I think you're 100 percent correct on Missing White Woman Syndrome. I've seen far too many stories of endangered missing children that no one seems to know anything about to think otherwise. But I think that in this case, at least in my own personal situation, what got people emotionally invested was the…
I'm sorry but lets just call BS when we see it. In this case this child supposedly died accidentally yet this mom hid her body...and then promptly went out clubbing? And having sex with random men. And then more clubbing. And peeing in parking lots. And then a bit more clubbing. She was having fun with a capital F…
Agreed. I also think she needs help and she needs empathy, something which I understand might be very difficult to do in these circumstances. There was an underlying reason why this woman did what she did and she deserves to get the help she needs. She deserved to get it before that doctor implanted those embryos.
Wow. I have four children, one of them has special needs. The time that it takes to care for him and deal with the issues surrounding him is pretty extreme, very demanding and is enough to cause depression for someone of a weaker will. I had NO clue until I read your post that Nadya has three children who fall into…
I hate to say it but I think this is really the only sane ending to this mess. Keeping them together just doesn't seem possible, yet tearing them completely apart seems cruel. All the same it's obvious that Nadya has realized - finally - what an awful mistake she made. With depression taking over she's really not…
Someone who's a diabetic and therefore can't. That piece of info got left off of the reprint here but is mentioned by the MIL in the full text elsewhere.
If you read down thread somewhere it says that the girl is a diabetic - which would cause said dietary necessities.
While I would agree that 20 bucks left on the ground is a questionable thing to leave vs take, an iPad is an entirely different beast. It's got your life on it; photos of you and your family. Those nude pics you took for your bf when he was in Florida and you were skyping. The bank statements you downloaded to help in…
I'm only interested in being highbrow ironically.
Exactly. I told my teenaged daughters that while birth control is good, it's not 100%. They have to also use a condom. That's not only the extra protection against pregnancy, it's also protection from things like Herpes which one in five adults in our state has.
But the catch is that she is the one who put it out there knowing full well that people would be talking about it.
A name which will *always* make me squee with happiness remembering the nights I got to stay up late with my dad and watch Darby O'Gill and the Little People.
