When an unidentified bidder upped the auction to the price of $280,000 at the last moment, an extension was needed for Italia to submit the winning bid of $280,1000.

“The cranberries!!!”
His 1987 special is a classic that still holds up. I love it!
Wow, I’m gutted by this one. Louie is one of my favorite comedians, my celebrity lookalike, and I had the honor of interviewing him for an article about Family Feud just a few months ago.
What an amazing in the moment riff, thanks for sharing this!
I remember watching him on Family Feud; he was the really first host I saw show such open contempt for the contestants’ inane answers. RIP Louie!
Hell Yeah. I knew that at this point I couldn’t possibly be the first to mention it.
His performance as Christine Baskets is one of my favorite performances by any actor in any media.
Underrated. Loved him in Life with Louie, i was glad to see him pop up in the Coming to America sequel; but I loved his take on hosting Family Feud -His hosting is great; but everything else- the set, music and scoring bury his run to the bottom of the rankings. Sad, honestly. People forget that without his start in…
When I was a kid, every comedian could have their own cartoon. John Candy had “Camp Candy”, Howie Mandel had “Bobby’s World”, and Louie Anderson had “Life With Louie”.
This one hurts like Bob Saget. Just a dude who seemed to be the real deal. R.I.P. Louie!
The 9th Annual Young Comedians Special had a lot of future talent. It was hosted by Rodney Dangerfield, and had:
Aw man, this is a bummer. Louie was great. The kind of guy who everyone meant they loved him. Just a genuinely nice guy. I was a fan of his comedy. Some comedians have this style where they’re going for the perfect joke or the the big laugh that gets the entire crowd out of the seats. Louie’s style was more like you…
Louie was just the best. I grew up with his stand-up and later became a massive fan of his “Christine” on Baskets. I actually wept when I first read the news! And I don’t normally cry about people I don’t know dying. But Louie is in very good company: the only others I have cried about passing were Carl Sagan and Lou…
Anybody remember The Wrong Guys? John Goodman, Louie, Richards both Lewis AND Belzer...I loved it when I was a kid. I wonder how it holds up...
Thanks so much for posting that. He always made me laugh so hard when I was a kid.
“Outstanding Performance on Effort” is a fine piece of understated comedy.
