We do frown upon it. But that's because racial slurs are insults that bear connotations of undesirable aspects. For example, if you called someone whose family has been slaves for ages an inhuman slave then you would get a similar response to calling a black person a negro.

He isn't whining about Russia's stance on LGBT. He's taking an active role in the political system by stating his grievance with a public figure as well as giving suggestions on a course of action.

The quote isn't saying that people should be offended. It's saying that you shouldn't encourage self-censorship because it might make some people whine at you. There are far more mature responses to someone for offending your faith/orientation/birth origins than to whine at them.

Some people just don't find any exercise fun. I've tried pretty much the whole gamut and not found a single exercise I enjoy.
