Dismissing the case is a form of dismissing her claim. And she didn't just take the files. She took the laptop.
I don't think a gut feeling is really much to go by on a case you don't know much about. :p

I would agree with that statement. It almost seems natural that, as people grow older, they become pessimistic and blind to the troubles of others.
I wouldn't say that a parent mustering up the energy to go out late at night - perhaps hours before midnight - to stand in queue with their kids to buy a game for them shows a detachment from the kid. To me that shows that they clearly care about their kid to at least some extent.
Most children I have met show more empathy than the majority of adults.
It has been proven time and time again that children to the age of 6 and above show a fully developed ability to distinguish fantasy from real life.

That's a valid point. There are more worthwhile areas to talk about the use of language and, as can be told from the comments here, most people replied to me rather than anyone else meaning that there was less of a debate started than possibly otherwise.
