Wranglers already have pretty good resale values, I’d bet you’d get every penny you spent on a diesel back if you go to sell it on later. Remember the used market value differences between the old 4 cylinder Wranglers and 6 cylinder Wranglers?

I’d say its less a reliability issue and more of a unwillingness to compromise performance issue. My old 93 Eddie Bauer Explorer had ABS, so I’d think it would be reasonable to guess a Grand Cherokee would too. But that Explorer ABS was absolute garbage on slick roads, the pedal would lock up and the system would make a terrible buzzing sound while you only slightly slowed down.
