This continues to look impressive and I’m super looking forward to it, but part of me wishes they would also do a simple remaster with some of the features from the VIII and XII remasters. I would happily spend money on both if they existed.
Can we fill empty slots with bots on Horde yet?
GameStop isn’t a going concern - they’ve got more than enough cash to last for several more years. The big issue I see is that even with the launch of new consoles next year - game consoles are their lowest margin item (I think it’s about 8% gross profit, compared to 40%-50% for a used game). Combine that with the…
I mean...Steam makes people on-board into their ecosystem by the fact that pretty much every digital store on the internet sells exclusively Steam keys. Like, you want to play a game on the PC? 90% of the time, you will be forced to do so through Steam. And yet...no outrage, no anger, no cries of exclusivity, just…
In even bigger news, Amazon has a games division.
You should listen to the podcast, but short version: There’s a big difference between burning down the Red Keep and indiscriminately killing civilians. This would be a whole different conversation if Daenerys had gone straight for Cersei, killing innocents in her quest to kill the woman who usurped the throne and…
Debates about preservation aside, I’m totally fine with an all-digital future.
Since this generation, I’ve bought 90% of my games digitally anyway because I just don’t have the room for piles of cases, and swapping discs sucks. The handful of physical current-gen games I do own, I bought via Amazon, when you could…
I know they’re worried about legal ramifications, but at some point I think Valve just needs to come out and say:
Sony is not saying it’s okay to “flip the switch”. They’re specifically saying that people should contact their PlayStation account managers to work through it. If Hi Rez just flipped the switch, Sony could pull the game from the store for not following procedure and going around them.
Because their games would be pulled from the platform and unable to be certified. These platforms aren’t open.
Sony is not exactly shy when it comes to blackballing people. They could do a lot, honestly.
You uhhh, don’t really understand how all networking works, do ya? Sony *absolutely* can shut that down, quickly, and end business ties with that developer/publisher.
You basically contradicted your entire point. The only place Sony can go is down from here. And they’re doing everything possible lately to ensure that they go down hard next generation.
They’re fighting back against a shitty move.
No, get over it. You want to fight something? Fight for DRM Free future. Not about what poor .exe you launch before your game.
It seems like the shitty move is mobilizing consumers to try to enforce a near monopoly on digital sales, even though the 30% commission is usurious at best.
Valve charge 30%, Epic charge 12%.
How is this anti-consumer? Both stores are free to download so the consumer isn't paying anything extra due to this exclusive deal. Third party exclusives for consoles is anti-consumer but I don't think this is.
Ok, Valve complaining about the “fairness” of anything is laughable, but I’m actually really curious about the decision-making process that led to this happening in this manner at this late a point.
