When this story first broke I wondered why the above wasn’t how it worked already. A record label can block a song from being show in my country so its “strange” it took this long and a high profile creator to have this happen.
Japanese copyright laws seem kind of crazy. Do a review on a show using short clips? Violation. Hijack a franchise by selling self-distributed “fan book” doujinshi for cash? A-okay.
The thing is that almost all of these take down strikes are done by automated systems that the companies license to use and just fire and forget. Its insane because in a silly attempt to stop piracy they are just silencing legit Youtube channels that are giving them free publicity by reviewing their work.
Yeah I’m kind of shocked this wasn’t how it was to begin with. Video doesn’t adhere to your country’s laws? Fine, it doesn’t get to be viewed from there. That's really a no-brainer decision, the hard part really is having the fair use laws from all countries that would enforce this.
“But with fair use so ill-respected in so many territories, and YouTube creators with no control over where their content will be shared once they upload there’s certainly a long way to go.”
Yes. The editorial staff choosing to run a story that isn’t the exact thing that you’re concerned about clearly indicates a conspiracy.
sir this is a Wendy’s
Yeah, give up and roll over. That’s a much better strategy.

I’d like to hear a non-crackpot or buzzword filled argument in favor of NFTs, because I’m not sure what that would be.
Yeah, but in this specific scenario you also run the (significant) risk of getting a Steam/Origin account blackballed.

Modern Warfare on Series X has serious framerate issues right now, especially when turning. Everything is very choppy.

Ugh, why did they have to add wins? I usually solo-queue, and I don’t like it when my progression is tied to the performance of random team-mates. Or worse, there’s a cheater on the enemy team putting us at a disadvantage. It just feels like a challenge designed to waste peoples’ time.
Just bring back 2142 you cowards!
It’s 2021, we can stop pretending that AAA games having free modes is done out of the goodness of someone’s heart and not because they’ve already planned on how to recoup any potential financial losses from that decisions through unreasonable grinds, exhorbitant microtransactions and exploitative practices.
