Thanks for your reply. Believe me when I say I appreciate you taking time to write your response. As someone who leans centre-left, I actually agree with you that anti-Semitic violence is on the rise, and needs to be addressed more. But, I have respectfully disagree with you a several points:

Maybe, when he was younger, a girl that he liked did not like him back, and she went out with someone who was non-white. That could explain both his sexism and racism.

I genuinely wonder sometimes what the hell happened to Miller to make him turn into such an asshole.

And I’m not sure liberals should pat ourselves on the back too hard for not being hypocrites.

I’m not saying people can’t be offended, and yeah, I think he should apologize.  That being said, I don’t think he should lose his job over this.

It’s a win-win for them. Either we boot them out the door (we lose helpful widespread voices), or forgive them (they can call us hypocrites/only tolerant of our ideals).

I actually get why Al Franken had to go. Being a repeat sexual harasser is not something that can be easily forgiven. However, James Gunn made a bunch of horrible jokes, for which he later apologized for and (by all accounts) has changed his attitude. I don’t think he should have lost his director job.

Instead his fans are just swarming that he shouldn’t face repercussions because “what about so and so” and because they like him.

Objectively these “jokes” are gross, no question, but Gunn is being treated like he was an actual pedophile instead of making jokes. Gunn apologized for the tweets in the past and he knows they were wrong. He changed and moved forward.

They’re being led by folks like Mike Cernovich and Jack Posobeic, some of the worst types of alt-right trolls.
