It's kind of sad seeing EA milk the name, Bioware makes good games and is likely losing quite a bit of the reputation from fans they earned over the years because of EA.

It's not really forcing if the people already like the game but have problems with the current owners of the developer. Personally, I love the main series Mass Effect and Dragon Age games (yes, even Mass Effect 3 and Dragon Age 2) but I dislike EA, among other companies, as a whole.

It's slightly different through Steam. When you start the download there's a big ol' box that appears where you choose save destination and whatnot, but instead of downloading compressed files it downloads the full game.
