How much does Ward’s technique on that tackle have to do with the new helmet rule? Seems like, before this year, a tackler in that situation would dip his head and drive his shoulder into the ball carrier, as opposed to doing the “kneel-and-catch” thing Ward’s doing here. (Not saying whether the helmet rule is right

I think his cell phone was either broken or lost some time ago

You’re 100% right. Except he literally, specifically says the pitcher should hit Acuña with a pitch. So, in that context, you’re completely wrong.

It would seem like “Old farts advocating to injure young, fun, talented players” would be bad for the future of the MLB, but then again this is a game/league that is so inherently obsessed with the past.

Yeah, but other than those guys, what other closers have ever won the Cy Young award?!?!

...in line for Cy Young, which only Dennis Eckersley in 1992 and Eric Gagne in 2003 have ever won as closers?

Are any of us?

Think of baseball...think of baseball...think of baseball...

You can always tell the people who picked up their Looney Tunes fandom from boardwalk t-shirts circa 1995.

I would be fine banning people for having a “Porky Pig is lame” take.

Visions of Jose Canseco, Texas Ranger?

It fits the crime. Context: this sort of thing in European competitions is a little more lax. Bringing food or doing it multiple times is one thing, but a health check in a long stretch of heat / no shade? Ok. Little sip of water? It’s water. Whatever. While a DQ was appropriate, we have to acknowledge that this sort

Here’s my question to you. As someone who is around a lot of ultra runners and have been apart of the running community for awhile, do you think the punishment is severe or light? I actually think the punishment is incredibly light considering he basically violated the one major rule of an ultra marathon and he

And there’s a whole different set of things that are allowed in Euro Ultras that aren’t allowed in ultras stateside. I mean Killian himself was disqualified from a race a few years ago because instead of taking the designated path up a mountain he just fucking climbed straight up the mountain. Like it was probably

Thank you for your perspective and for confirming what I thought. The only ultrarunners I know are casual acquaintances, so I don’t really know them well enough to really have a window into the culture. But I’ve done some long-distance bike racing, and the rules for the kind of support you can get on those varies

As an ultrarunner who knows many ultrarunners, this is 100% right. This was a good DQ, and an obvious DQ from anyone who has run an ultra. This guy obviously planned this way in advance and suffered the just consequences for it.

No she was general assistance to all racers of legal age. And it tasted so good.

I assume she was not your race crew, providing assistance to only you where nobody else had it.
