I've never been an achievement whore, but I enjoyed competing with my friends and used to go out of my way in some games to get some of the more extreme ones. For me it was just a fun challenge and added some extra playtime to a game.

Na you don't need to buy an expensive PC any more. My 5 year old PC cost me about £400 and with a £100 graphics upgrade about 2 years ago it can still run most games today, I was able to play skyrim on really great settings surpassing console graphics without any issues.
