I am from England, so I can't comment on gamestop, but the stores we have seem to be quite reasonable for the trade in price.

I have to say that he is very unlucky, I only replaced my old one because I wanted HDMI output and a bigger hard drive, also I traded my old one in for the new one and only paid £70. Oh and my original console was from launch and I never had a single problem with it.
