I wouldn’t worry too much about it. A couple of months ago people were worried you only had four characters. Now there are five. I think they are just keeping some secret. The opening could easily be trimmed to remove the appearances of the new characters until they are revealed.

I recommend reading the manga of Yamada-kun at the same time or after it ends. The anime is not a very good adaptation. After watching the first episode of Yamada-kun I binge read the whole manga. The manga is so good.
