I honestly could have given having all those people be white actors a pass, since a small production like that does need big names (which feeds the cycle, of course), if they had just cast Kubo with an Asian actor. Art Parkinson isn’t putting asses in seats. Surround a new, race-appropriate actor with names and you’re

His power is to, essentially, be a blindspot in Ulysses’ visions.

“Wizardry aside, it’s tough to beat a gun for discouraging men with baseball bats.”

I knew this guy would show up.

I definitely think that highlighting the artistic aspects of STEM fields is important. I just don’t think that it should be classified as being part of the same field. I guess it makes more sense when referring to jobs. STEM jobs include engineers, scientists, mathematicians and the like. But STEAM is all of those and

All of the Asian names in it are random villagers who only serve as background. Takei really is, too. The leads and supporting cast of the movie are all white.

It’s definitely a spoiler. But I will say that when it’s revealed it’s a really satisfying and touching moment.

Well, for one, STEM is actually useful.

I know about centrifugal force because of this.

Speaking as someone with an arts degree, I don’t think it’s a matter of not thinking that it should be included in a well-rounded education, but that it doesn’t necessarily belong in that group of subjects. STEM always seemed like a grouping of similar fields, not a list of topics that are important to learn.

I just lent my copy to a friend who hasn’t seen it.

I mean, Paul Bettany said that he loved playing JARVIS because he didn’t have to go to set, just went into a booth for a few days and walked out with giant bags of money.

I’m still not convinced that Zendaya isn’t already the name of a Marvel comics character.

I’m guessing because people still put faith in things, whereas books and storms are more passe.

Pretty sure he knows they’re trying to kill him.
