I thought you were asking if them saying they were doing a sequel was a macguffin, not if something presented in the movie was. But if it didn’t lead anywhere, that makes it a red herring.

And then he prison rapes it.

Just went and grabbed the audiobook.

You mean a red herring?

My biggest problem with Suicide Squad is that it’s barely a movie. It’s a solid first act, and half of a third act, and everything in between is just pointlessly killing time.

That is arguably debatable in an animated world, but if it was a photograph it seems more likely it would be done using the CGI models, which would be the equivalent of photo-realistic to them.

Yes, but that was an illustration even to them.

We’ve already seen what happens if they went in a good direction with this. It’s called Fables.

Yeah, I’m sure Disney is really regretting making sequels and reboots like Captain America: Civil War, The Jungle Book and Finding Dory.

I’m so glad I don’t watch this show.

Yeah, they couldn’t even pretend he was dead to the credits of the very movie he died in.

I dunno, it felt pretty stupid, and a bit ironic, that it was chastising the religious people for not believing the totally irrefutable evidence he had, which was just an illustration from a book.

Yes, but what does that have to do with goats or their faces?

And an episode of Doctor Who.

I did, too. I mean, it’s pretty heavy-handed, and falls apart in the third act, and Andrew Niccol goes a bit crazy with the time puns, and all but re-uses the score from Gattaca, but I still liked it!

Who Waller says could take a bullet to the head and keep going, when they couldn’t even survive a baseball bat.

I wasn’t bored during Ghostbusters, and that’s a huge plus in its column. It also actually had a story that went somewhere, instead of just a setup and a climax with an hour+ of killing time in between.

I don’t see how his statement shows that he doesn’t understand that at all.

I just saw a production of Othello where the actor playing Iago said pretty much the exact same thing. He had to tap into what was relatable about Iago’s motivations. We’ve all been cheated on, we’ve all been passed up for a promotion. It’s some basic, universal things driving him. He just takes them way too far. And,

If it was Maz, why would they be casting the role? She’s already got an actress, and they don’t need someone different to play a younger version.
