See, you’re arguing ethics and shoulds with me. I never said anything on that issue. I was just addressing the statement you made that he only kills people indirectly. That is objectively false. Whether or not that’s good or bad is another issue altogether.
And the villain’s scheme specifically targeted the lower class. Not only were the rich people the ones afforded protection, but he by giving out the chips for free, it ensured that they’d be held by a large portion of lower income people.
In the warehouse fight scene towards the end he shoots quite a few of the goons. He points one of the badguys guns towards them while he’s still holding it and fires, but he also grabs one off the ground and just shoots some of them. He also stabs a guy.
But it’s not even killing through inaction like in Batman Begins. He straight-up shoots people in this. A lot of people.
It’s about classism, specifically British classism.

If they had said this was official promotional material from Marvel I would have believed it without pause.
This is why, for the most part, the Marvel films work so well and are so cohesive — character comes before everything else. Almost every plot point is subservient to character consistency. If these people don’t feel real, the whole thing falls apart, and Marvel gets that.
It’s not like DC had to make a Batman vs. Superman movie now, though. It was their choice to eschew having an actual setup. That’s on them.
