The 1k need for a decent PC is a dated perception, $400 builds with a $100 gtx 750ti low-end GPUs have outperformed consoles in multi-platform games. Everything else above that is just gravy features/performance, or in some cases people wasting their money.

My PC hasn't crashed in years, my drivers update by themselves, and most games auto detect video settings are pretty spot on.
