It needs a lot of features adding to make it a well rounded game, that was the point I was making.

Sadly this is true, it is evident the whole system needs revising and has done for a long time.
Yep, RAMBUS made a whole business model that revolved around patent trolling when no one wanted to buy their hideously overpriced RAM anymore.
I'm sure I am not the only one that spent several 1000 hours playing the mod.
It isn't worth playing currently if you did not like the mod. Vehicles aren't implemented, there are very few zombies, 2 pistols and 2 rifles and stuff like the script servers ran to kill you if you combat log is missing.
I'm still massively dubious about a PC with a more console centric approach. I think it would be great if PC gaming is seen as more accessible, but I can see some real headaches as far as running high end games goes on a steam box.
Yeah mods are always a valid reason to game on PC, the only issue is as games become more complex the cost of creating a mod kit(SDK) can be very costly for the developers - You can, and I would argue they make that money back in drawing in players that would have passed up on their game otherwise.
It was the same case when Morrowind came out. I remember it looking pretty decent on PC, on Xbox it looked like a Goldeneye mod.
It definitely will be. I've started skipping through it in films, it is completely unnecessary.
It is a pretty feeble way of saying Valve made the game if you want to consider it "made" by Valve.
Good list, except Valve didn't make Day of Defeat they just bought the rights to it then re released as a standalone commercial title. There's probably a wiki page that cites them making Counter Strike too, but again they bought the rights to it as opposed to making it themselves.
All DSL lines I have seen will acquire a new IP address if the router is powered down for more than a couple of minutes. I've got round blacklisting when an client is sending out via DNS using an Exchange server on a dynamic IP this way on several occasions. I'm not sure about fibre connections over here because I've…
I'm not sure about that. This was quite a complicated case in the scheme of things. Knowing that Interplay would lose the rights it was nice to see them offering the 3 games for free on GOG.
Games with a decent server browser have an option to display/hide servers running mods.
The problem is the SDK for modders requires a respectable amount of work. Tripwire brought up how much of a resource sink it was for Red Orchestra 2 but that they felt it was "worth it"
IPs will often change if there is a connection drop, also restarting your router will generally give you a new IP.
Pretty much, but it is pretty shortsighted. If you shit on the people that allow you(google) to make money then it creates a very valid reason for upstarts to create their own video hosting platforms. Not to mention people are encouraged to support them if they are treated badly.
I'm not sure I came across it a few years back on Stumbleupon.
I liked Vanilla and TBC best. I think Blizzard unfortunately homogenized the classes over the years so for the last couple of expansions you could for instance cover most if not all buffs with just a couple of classes using different specs.
