Nope, it sure isn't. I wish people would stop calling it science.

to weigh in on Cassie's side here, it's too easy to put people into "victim" and "non-victim" boxes. And that since this woman was threatened with rape and violence then she moves from one box to another. That's not how it goes. It's possible (as cassie is doing) to condemn both rape threats and offensive costumes.

I would guess this is Oberon.

nice.

It's whatever makes you feel bad about your own body.

I would like to add that I would LOVE to watch someone (try) to breakdance on the subway. It would make my week.

wasn't that a lady alien?

That sounds right, though if would guess that akin the latter case it's because 2 African Americans are more likely two share a common lineage rather than any "African American-ness"

Here's some peer-reviewed biology to back you up. the numbers are roughly 85% variation within DNA is individual while 15% of variation can be attributed to "race."

While that variation isn't enough to justify anyone claiming races exist biologically and can be measured against each other, it is enough to say that

I will admit that while I was (and am) keen to fight rape culture, I was skeptical of the 1 in 5 statistic. Until I looked it up. It's pretty well fucking founded.

It also has a considerably smaller potential clientele. I would consider myself within the target demographic, I care more about this kind of thing more than the average guy, but I wouldn't go.

I'm pretty sure it's "I'm not racist, but..."

He's certainly taking the (utterly wrong) position that feminism only wants to change traditional gender roles for a new set of gender roles. But I think he's only using it as a straw man to discredit feminists. His constant referencing made up statistics and his feelings of what women actually want show that he's

You're right, the Miley comment was iffy, and it wasn't a great example. But be careful with comments like "I don't know what this means, but I don't like it." That's a very dangerous way to start a thought or idea.

Canada doesnt make a good puzzle piece.

A lot of people here I think concentrate on the wrong aspects of why this is bad but something else might be ok. It's not because Greece is a small country and Africa is a continent. That just affects the amount of variety.

I also don't think power dynamic fully explains why either (that that those points were wrong

pretty sure my younger brother is smarter than me.

EDIT: also this study hasn't even been published. Whole thing seems pretty silly.

I also want to point out that I wasn't singling you out specifically, you were just at the bottom of thre thread. There were far worse examples of feeding.

It's a Slavic tradition too. Though I think the old Norse might be unique where either parents given name could be used as the child's surname.
