So if Americans want fuel efficient cars so badly, why are they all buying CUVs/SUVs that aren’t the most fuel efficient vehicle available to them?
This study is not any indication. People vote with their wallets not a response to some guy asking questions. OF COURSE people will say they want more economy when it doesn’t cost them anything. But with less than 3% market share, hybrid sales say it all.
Jason, unless next week’s MCM is the original Volkswagen Beetle, this is a terrible take and you should feel bad about it.
Sorry, no. Insurance isn’t an investment, that line of thinking is what perpetuates fraud.
I’ll also add that those with worse credit tend to be more sensitive to price changes and will often shop around their rates come renewal time. Those that jump from insurer to insurer every year or two tend to have more expense cost associated with them vs. those that stick around for years.
Hey Tom,
B.S. In my state you can renew your tags for two years; if the tires are marginal (but still okay) at inspection time, by next year they look like these examples, and there’s still another year left to go before the next inspection.
When a ‘90s Malibu needs new tires, I’m pretty sure it’s considered totaled.
Tires. You can mod the crap out of everything else on your car, but if you can’t grip, you’re just wasting your money. I finally got a set of summer tires this year, a bit wider than stock, and I can take a corner like I never could before. It feels like a completely different car. Always start with tires.
Because if you saw those triple digits on the gauge, you’d be tempted to point the needle at them, so the reasoning went.
Always enjoyed the Mustang SVO speedometer
My guess is that she didn’t have GAP coverage, which is an expensive lesson. I can easily see a Kia like this losing half of the sales-price. Especially if the purchaser rolled-in some upside-down debt from a trade-in.
Why is that hard to believe? 60 month term with high interest rate, compared with a few years of depreciation, and yeah, the balance on the loan could be worth double the current value (not original value) of the car.
My solution to this in the past has been to just take one of the matching parts to the hardware store
Tires are one of the most understated, and underappreciated pieces of maintenance. Just cause they have good tread, doesn’t mean they aren’t old as shit. It’s amazing what a new set of shoes will do for the ride quality and handling.
Counterpoint:
The way I understand it with the C6 and C7 corvettes is there are certain mounts for parts of the frame that if they get damaged are unrepairable. I’d bet thats what happened here.
Yeah, this.
It doesn’t take the “flames reaching your underwear” to create a problem.
