Funny enough, the original Dead Island had “Real time damage on skin, muscle, and bone layers” during production, but they then removed it before release as playtesters werent noticing it that much with the graphical detail of that time.

I was very hyped for this when they were talking about the classics catalog before they made the change because I thought it meant all the Final Fantasy games, Breath of Fires, etc. What they ended up giving for RPGs in the classics is a bit disappointing.
