As a native Detroiter, I’m really embarrassed that the race in the Motor City is almost more about driving carefully than it is about driving fast. It’s great that there’s still a race there, but they really need to consider a major overhaul. Hell...I wouldn’t mind making Belle Isle a permanent raceway....or at least

Chris Evans has had 24 years to grow into the job of not being horrible, please don’t hold your breath.

Race cars like this don’t run blow-off/bypass valves. Those help reduce the stress on the turbo when you let off the throttle. The turbos in a race car only need to last a weekend instead of 150k miles. By not using a blow-off valve you can keep the boost pressure up between shifts, so it reduces the lag until you hit

This isn’t the wastegate or BOV (blow off valve) you’re hearing, it’s actually the lack of. The chirping is the pressurized air being forced back through the turbo when the throttle body is being closed between shifts. The BOV is used on street cars to prevent this from happening and reduces stress on the turbo

I can’t watch this video with sound at work, but I’m seeing comments that are confusing me so I want to clear this up.

The blow off valve sits between the compressor and the intake manifold and exists to blow off excess boost pressure when the throttle is shut.

The wastegate sits on the exhaust side between the cylinder

It’s that delightful chirp of the turbo wastegate

No fair, they didn’t test the Mustang in real-world conditions.

That’s not true. That’s impossible!

The BRZ.

When the 2010 Mustang came out, I bought a GT. Kona Blue/Saddle, 5 speed manual, yada. All of the buff books were singing the car’s praises for its performance. After breaking it in, I would get on it more and more. I started wondering what the car mags were so impressed with, that car didn’t feel fast at all.

I’d like to interrupt the snarking at the technical issues to say, “Holy Schnikes! That is a serious growl coming from a Ford Focus!” Every time he shifted and the engine note changed, I grinned again. Good stuff there!

Can’t get any sleepier than this in grandpa’s Buick. Comes with bench seat, column shifter and a supercharged V6 that will smoke modern sports cars with some minor mods.

Best/only sub 5k sleeper I could find on ebay:

It could be indeed interesting to do something like that, I don’t desagree with it. Love going to the ring, love touristenfahrten! But zero preparation killed something that could have been nice... Again, it’s Gawker media, live streaming a lap, in a Focus RS, at the nordschleife, with Robb Rolland at the wheel. Not

Not willing to sound like an ass, but if you’re going to do something like that, I don’t know, check out the possibilities you may have to live stream a gopro from a solid mount with a proper camera. You guys are JALOPNIK. That’s probably the biggest automotive website on internet. How the hell do you manage to come

Am I doing this right?

Maybe he went across town to engineer the mid-engine Corvette.

Glad I'm not completely alone. As the resident mothballed DSM'r, I approve of this post, . Just about everything has been well stated my Mr. George, I've already cried all my tears and cursed every curse and purged myself of all the negative emotions that come with DSM ownership. I still have her in storage because
