You know what? I'll say it: DA 2 was good.

Yeah. I had just to stop watching that show due the awfulness of the censorship (among other things). But damn this one really takes the cake... And here I though Tokyo Ghoul was bad.

In the past 5 hours "talking" to these people I have learned that criticism equals censorship, sexual objectification isn't sexism, and using Sarkeesian's materials in college courses is tantamount to indoctrination of college students... Because you would give someone an 'F' for disagreeing with your assigned

Okay, seriously. What in the actual fuck, folks?

I teach English at the college level; last year, I was privileged to teach ENG 230, which at my institution is a rotating (through the faculty) course that is generously labeled "Special Topics in Literature."

I taught my course, for two semesters, as "Gaming: Literary

Yup. This game was so ahead of its time we STILL haven't really caught up. The music was highly dynamic, and the gameplay could be massively overhauled via the difficulty settings. I've still never seen another game that lets you change the difficulty of multiple facets of the game, to the point where you can turn off

+1 for dropping a Parker Lewis reference.

That's kind of a perfect encapsulation of everything that bothered me about SAO. Yet I still watched all of it...

Good call!

You just had to remind me of Valkyria Chronicles 3. T^T

I could've sworn that the previous season was in 1926-1927, but perhaps I'm mistaken. One thing I already don't like is that they skip the death of Rothstein and completely ignore the heavy parts of the crash of 1929. However, it's nice they pick up at the Castellamarrese, although it is jarring to have Joe the Boss

This ones for you Sega

The most prolific ones either have a really fantastic range or simply a really fantastic voice (Wakamoto). It's not too difficult to ID some once you've seen them in a few series. They can surprise you sometimes though. Romi Park is easy to pick out when she's voicing a male character but I didn't know she was in AoT

Kana's done so many roles.

There are some others I often find easy to recognise, like Sugita-san (see above list) and Mamoru Miyano (Light, Taichi, Tamaki, Rintaro etc). The latter especially if he's doing his more exaggerated voice. Rie Kugimiya is also usually very easy to recognise.

"If anything, the tone in her videos is a lot more calm and measured than a lot of the stuff you'll find in the more...polemical scholarly writings."

The Spouse's parents are both compsci doctorates who've dabbled in AI. They've got … OPINIONS about how some of Chomsky's language processing papers have dealt with

"I've spoken to several developers who have outright said that Sarkeesian's videos have made them rethink some of their past work and their approach to how they create things."

I've always loved the "oh… HUH. WOW. So THAT'S what I was doing" moment when I realize where a particular element I put in came from, or see

Too true. I find such accusations tantamount to conspiracy theorists complaining that the New York Times won't report on George W. Bush being behind 9-11. They have a narrative of choice, and they want it represented it print, regardless of its incongruence with the facts.

Wouldn't it be annoying if, after you said that, a game journalist you weren't directly speaking to jumped in to say, "I don't broadly insult people in the name of justice. I never ignored these outspoken non-offenders. I never called them misogynist pigs."?

Because whether that's true or not, it would kind of not be

I'd like to see more positive pieces about women in gaming. The negativity can be incredibly tiring, and sometimes the tone some pieces take just aren't really conductive to changing things.
