I never used the word "owe". I said they should, as it would be a smart customer relations/PR move that would cost them very little and help to generate good press out of an initially negative story.

Where did I say anything about anyone being "owed" anything?

I said they SHOULD do something, because it's smart PR and customer relations. They're not obligated to.

"She is "often" called a bitch, or accused of being a lesbian. Well, if you say it's often, it must be true. Just for clarification, how often is that, as that's sort of vague? Tuesdays? Would it be every third instance? Does it matter if it's a leap year? You see how terribly inaccurate that is, so I'd like something

"DO NOT SEND US BUGS*"

For what it's worth, the last time my 360 got the RRoD (and I find it funny that I have to specify which time), they included a card for a free month of Live. It wasn't a huge deal, but it was a nice gesture.

There's a difference between "while under warranty" and "straight out of the box".

Beyond that, there's a difference between the relationship to the customer that a TV producer has (where it's basically limited to that TV) and what Sony has to its gamer audience (where they want you to be invested in the platform, buy

"We won't be offended. We know you love us best."

Hey, look. That thing with Giantbomb was only the one time. You know you mean the world to me.

What? Who's Adam Sessler? Why is Rev3 in my browser history? Aw, c'mon. Why you gotta be like that?

Well, that's good, at least. Good luck!

Don't get me wrong; them taking prompt action on this and trying to get replacements taken care of is good. It just seems like the bare minimum of what they should do, you know? Some sort of small gesture would just be smart PR.

Yeah, though if it's just a standard "X percentage of these will be defective" allowance, I'm not sure what assurances they can really offer.

No, it's basic customer relations.

Getting your old unit replaced at no cost is not them doing you a favor; that is the bare minimum they should do. I mean, the device that you paid them money for is not working because of faults on their end. This is an inconvenience to you. You cannot use the thing you paid them for.

I

Really? Granted, it's been ages since I actually touched it, so nostalgia may be a factor here, but that's not how I remember it at all.

Compare that to Galaxy 2, which really did feel to me like "Galaxy 1, but smaller and more constrained".

I was just using that as an example.

(though, you know, that particular gesture would still work. It's not like ANOTHER $10 wouldn't be welcome)

Got what, a $10 PSN credit?

I was just using that as an example. It doesn't have to be some big huge thing; just a small gesture, you know?

Eh, I still think it'd be an appropriate move on Sony's part to do something to make it up to the affected customers. They're certainly not obligated to, but it's a good PR/customer relations move. Besides, if it really is such a small number of systems being affected, then it's not like the cost to them would be all

The NAACP and the various LGBT organizations are not the "leaders" of their respective movements. They are simply organizations within that movement. The NAACP does not speak for all black people. The group you refer to (or the HRC, the largest LGBT lobbying group in the U.S.) does not speak for all LGBT people.

"Even

My question is, is Sony doing anything BEYOND just exchanging the units?

If you're a major company and a mistake on your end inconveniences the consumer, you really should do something to make it up to them, even if it's just something like a $10 PSN credit or something.

I don't know why people dislike that one so much. It was -hard-, sure, but...

Anyway, that's the only one of the modern Mario games I've gotten 100% completion on. I'd actually take that over Galaxy 2, which felt too...restrained and small-scale coming after the sprawling worlds of the original Galaxy.

"Yes, society identifies assertiveness as a male trait, and it's given a positive codifier because of it. "

In some circumstances. When a woman displays it, she's often called a "bitch", or accused of being a lesbian, or all sorts of other things.

"Do you want a cookie?"

Your condescension is duly noted.

"So is it the

Sadly, this kind of matches up with my impressions of the game from what I've seen. It looks perfectly fine, but...I dunno. Something about it just seems to lack the magic of a Mario 64, or a Galaxy, or even a Sunshine.

(Though to be fair, I wasn't a huge fan of Galaxy 2, either. It felt like kind of a step back.)

On

My point about "Trap" has nothing to do with the actual characters in question sleeping with anyone. It has everything to do with the widespread narrative that trans people are something other than what they claim to be, that they're "deceptive", false, fake.

I mean, look at the word "trap". Ask yourself what that
