I agree with the assessment that Trump is no evil genius, but I tend to think Brennan’s comments about “treasonous paths” (and the idiocy/ignorance that often leads to them) was more about Trump himself than about Kushner, even though the timing made everyone think it was about Kushner.

Well, calling him a Russian agent implies a level of intellect and cunning that Trump cannot even imagine in his wildest dreams. He is a compromised, unwilling dupe, which makes him more of an asset than an agent.

I somewhat agree, in that I have serious doubts about whether Trump was involved with anything that went wrong.
