You know, I gotta agree with you. I'm a HUGE fan of the books and have read each one multiple times. But I think that HBO has done a very sloppy job of adapting the story and the casting (with a few exceptions - Dinklage) has been pretty bleh.

Because, y'know, science and stuff.
I was really mad at the switch because I felt that the mysterious mandarin was a lot more interesting that the dime a dozen greedy rich guy we wound up getting.
I just finished Season 3 and, I admit, the depravity, brutality, and visceral scares had me seriously on edge. I was more frightened in Season 3 in many parts than ever in Season 2. Huge improvement over the previous season and highly recommended to any horror fan.
Yeah, the moment when the woman actually speaks before the Doctor... Always gets me.
Am I alone in thinking that, as creepy as Blink is, it should switch places with Midnight? Because damn, was I much more scared during the latter, and it's an RTD-written story.
Honestly, I remain underwhelmed by this show and the whole "Whedon takes time" doesn't work for me as I was into Buffy from episode one. I basically watch this out of geek compulsion, but the brief delights I get from little references ("Journey into Mystery" was actually my favorite) isn't going to hold me. They…
Tell that to Feanor.
That point is absolutely true - however the "horror" element of Carrie hasn't been lost. In the book, the terror comes from two places: 1) the slow-motion train wreck of Carrie's prom and the long walk home. 2) Carrie's home life. The first has been picked over a lot in the years since the book and movie's release.…
The Hobbit: Like butter, spread across too much bread.
The 20s. The music, the fashion, the art
Make them all horribly charming/played by Ron Perlman.
Hot damn! I just marathoned the first four episodes of the show last night and I'm stunned by how much I enjoyed it. I mean, a lot of the plot CLEARLY makes no sense and it's info dumpy as hell, yet it's still wildly charming, completely hilarious and just plain FUN.
I'd be completely ok if they wrote off the main character (the double sided hacker girl that's waaaaay too hot to be believable) and just focus on Coulson.
Is Columbus discovering America something that we're even still talking about? Hasn't there been evidence of many other cultures getting here first? And why do we even care? He discovered a place where people already lived. That's not a feat. I do that every day.
"He did not so much Fall, as Saunter Vaguely Downwards."
Eh looks kind of lame to me. Its like overly stereotypical design that screams "70s ORIENTAL" and character art that looks like it would be a show that comes on between the mid-90s run of G.I. Joe Extreme and Double Dragons. I'll pass.
Prequel?
Since the second half of Series 6 of Doctor Who kinda botched her character, I wish there were a River Song TV show featuring her as some sort of an independent space-Indiana Jones who's trying to get her professorship through violent and wily means.
