I don’t like “scents” so something like febreeze is a no-go for me. However you could try a spray bottle with white vinegar and a drop of lemon oil (or mint, whatever you like) to wipe down your mats. If the carpeting smells weird a sprinkle of baking soda left on for 10 min and then vacuumed might help.
