In the part of Michigan where I grew up, most families are descendants of Canadians who came down to Michigan from Ontario after the Civil War. So there are definitely close ties to our Canadian cousins. I even have a quasi-Canadian accent. :)

I identify with The North/Starks as well. Growing up in Northern Michigan I can relate cold and sometimes bleak landscapes described in the book.

I seem to recall Martin saying something about how he wished he could have made Rickon a bigger part of the story in the books. So if they do stay together in the show, maybe that's Martin's way of exploring other ideas he had about Rickon's role in things.

The level they took it to is certainly debatable. And I'm not entirely convinced the scene had to go into the territory it did. But on the flip side it did drive home the idea of what a complete and utter shit Joffrey is.

It depends then, on how large the original fortune was. Given the history of House Lannister, I don't think a fortune in the hundreds of billions of dollars is out of the question. So even if Tytos lost a fare amount of that, I'd still argue that Tywin's assets are much greater than Cullen's $40 billion.

Good points. I've only read the first book in the Twilight series so I don't know what other types of assets the Cullen's have in terms of land holdings and businesses. Whereas the Lannisters have numerous property holdings and business investments.

It's nice that the caution blocks are the same grey color as everything else. A bright orange would stand out too much.
