You so frequently see posts saying “the hobbit shouldn’t have been three movies, there wasn’t enough material “ but I contend this isn’t true. Even a short book translates to hours on te screen. Splitting the film wasn’t the issue, it was how they did it. There is no through line in the book. Is a series of episodic

Yeah! I get that they were made to change it and were disappointed, but in context “fight” works so much better. Wanting real profanity just strikes me as wanting to be edgy and “grown up” for edginess sake. There is really no need for that when you can express the same or better without using curses.

This could set some very interesting precedents around copywriting game mechanics. While it sounds as though that isn’t the intent here, the judge is likely going to be a non expert where the long history of tabletop games are concerned, so how they rule on the contract issue could accidentally test more fundamental

Perhaps this is a naive question, but for those of us not versed in the machinations of megacorporations...

I hate to be down on things, but I’m sceptical. An add supported 24h tv channel seems like the abolute worst way to deliver APs, which really benefit from the on demand format they get online. D&d’ back catalogue is four bad movies, one great movie and a mediocre Tv show. You could literally play al l content back to

Normally I’d agree, but in this case the trailer suggests that it’s a pretty straight sequel to the previous series, not just a stand alone with some nods to the past.

I wonder whether this could benefit from an Ahsoka themed Machete order. Watch season 1 of rebels, as the best intro to the animated Star Wars saga, then when Ahsoka is introduced, go back and watch the final three or so seasons of clone wars. Or at least a few of the key Ahsoka arcs leading up to the finale. Something

True! He doesn’t become supreme commander until Darksaber though, so likely that was Anderson or lucasfilm liking the character rather than Zhan's original plan.

It's worth noting that the title "heir to the empire" doesn't necessarily just refer to Thrawn. It could also mean C'boath the cloned dark jedi, Mara Jade, trained by the emperor and seeking to enact his last command , or if you believe the Noghri: Leia, the daughter and heir of tjeir lord Darth Vader. That ambiguity

I listened to the clip, I don’t see how you hear those words in that warble. Sorry, I think the internet just have dirty minds... Who knew?

I’ve always lovedPellaeon. He plays very important roles as the Watson to Thrawn’s Holmes, providing a lot of insight into what Thrawn, and later Daala, are planning in their respective campaigns. In that respect he’s kind of the counterpart to admiral Piet in the original trilogy.

To be fair, the author of the article is a media reporter, so actually their boss probably is forcing them to watch it all. For everyone else though I agree, we can be more selectp. However the media journalists maybe need to realize that they are in a bit of an echo chamber.

I don’t disagree per se, but i think you are being overly critical, because the points you are makibg about Din’s attitude to droids and their uncomfortable position in star wars society is the subtext of the episode. I agree it wasn’t handled with the finesse of Andor, but I really don’t think the writers were blind

This is very intriguing. I rea enjoyed the Dawn of the Jedi legend’s comics and was very excited when The Mandalorian went back to Tython. I wonder how much of the story with the Rakatan Infinite Empire will carry over. The main thing we’ve seen in the new canon is that story changes a lot, but setting largely stayed

Salamanders being one of the four races of elementals goes back to ancient greece though, so you can’t pin that one on Gygax. I know the term is also used for a real animal, but it's folklore version diverged long before D&D.

Great article, and some excellent points. Since the cover art is from the cyberpunk rpg though, I do want to point out that while it is certainly American, Mike Pondsmith its creator was one of the earliest Black voices in the tabletop rpg space, and did a lot of work to break ttrpgs out of being an old white boys

Definitely, its such an arc based show it would be nice to get closure.

Its good to see them taking a stance like this, and defending the livelihoods of the great artists who have made their world what it is today.

That’s a shame, though not unexpected. Discovery may have had a rocky start, but it improved year on year and has become a series I very much enjoy. Doug Jones’ performance as Saru is a definite highlight. Still. S five year mission is nothing to sniff at, even if it hasn’t racked up as many episodes in that time as

Except that‘s not really how it works. Tolkien estate has everything.
