Yeah, the idea isn’t terrible and they actually got Dave Arneson to write some of it up. Trouble is when you try to make a loosely defined D&D world, you kindof get a pretty generic fantasy setting. 

Our gaming group did a series where we tried to play through the plot of each D&D movie, then watched it to see how much better our characters did.
